Celebration of Life Mahalo

Our ‘ohana would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Molokai community for your love and condolences for our beloved Eric Fontes, as we celebrated his life in ceremony last weekend.

The outpouring of support was overwhelming and while we cannot thank everyone in this letter, we would like to send our mahalo to Kahu Reynolds Ayau and the members of Ierusalema Hou Church in Halawa Valley; Kahu Anna Lou Arakaki and the members of Ka Hale Laʻa O Ierusalema Hou Church; Moku and Lori Buchanan; Ryan Aikala and the Maui County Police Department and all of the uniformed officers who received Eric upon his return to Molokai (Eric would have been humbled by your demonstration); Uncle Henry Paleka; the Kanekua ‘ohana; John & Merle U`u; Puni Burrows and crew; Leonard’s imu crew; the Puailihau/Sharpe ‘ohana; the Corpuz ‘ohana; Sherman and Cammy Napoleon; the Aiwohi ‘ohana; ¬¬Shirley Rawlins and ‘ohana; Bill Domingo and ‘ohana; the Pescaia ‘ohana; the Department of Hawaiian Homelands and Office of Hawaiian Affairs ‘ohana and the Adolpho ‘ohana. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to offer consoling words, prepared meals, drinks, groceries and other gifts.

Last but not least, to Dolly Low and the Molokai High School Class of 1984, for your overwhelming display of love for Eric and our entire ‘ohana. Mahalo for taking care of the refreshments, pa`ina, tents, tables, chairs, cleaning, making the box and especially for sharing your songs during the service. You all are amazing.
Please forgive us if we have forgotten to mention any of those who helped to make Eric’s celebration of life a memorable one.

Eric was a special angel from Heaven who touched many lives during his time with us.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, thanksgiving and forgiveness.  His message was, and will forever be, that Jesus loves you!

Me Ke Aloha Pumahana,
The Fontes/Burrows ʻOhana
