American Safari Cruises Cancels Another Molokai Stop

Statement from Dan Blanchard, CEO and principal at American Safari:

We are continuing to work with state, federal and local representatives in Hawaii on concerns brought forth in the last community meeting on Molokai.  In respect for the continuing discussions, the Safari Explorer yacht will not visit Moloka’i as planned on its next voyage, Dec. 16 and 17.  We are committed to our vendors and supporters on Molokai. We look forward to reaching a mutually agreeable resolution and our peaceful return to Molokai soon. Mahalo.

If you get two 200 pound buns, then maybe you should be running down the street!! Hahahaah that was a good one MOKEMAN, know we know whos at home making use of their EBT!!!

    EATING BETTER TODAY???

  2. Finding the Balance says:

Come one Molokai Pule O’O that really is not nice to say….Chose to stay out of all these conversations because of comments like this…Time to think about how you would like to be treated…..attacking comments or inspiring ones….

You know I will never forget the words of one full on Aloha Aina warrior who is not scared to speak his mind in public but a person who touched me with his words when speaking to students…….from that day forth my respect for this warrior was immense….perhaps it is time for people to be touched by your words and time for you to rephrase your comments…from insulting to that of inspiring…….people may actually listen to you if you choose inspiring that comes from deep within the heart…the soul and the essence of you and your ancestors..

  3. Molokai PuleO'O says:

Maybe you should reply the same when you see people BASHING on Mr.RItte, do you feel that he likes all the hatred?? I don’t think so.. It angers me to see you pick sides “finding balance” and make stupid remarks. Mr Ritte speaks for himself and no one else.. We all have our own opinions.. It’s funny how you feel comfortable here in HAWAII trying to call the shots. I would be SHAME if I were you. Let the Hawaiian people figure this out stop trying to push yourself on our people. We all struggle you are not the only ones. I don’t want to go further with you. You will NEVER understand. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks..

  4. Finding the Balance says:

Pule O’O and anyone else out there no matter on the side of the fence you are on…Bashing one another is not the solution as basically it gets nowhere and no one wins and all that happens is hurt, frustration and anger..

Tonight the meeting emphasized working together, finding a balance and working on all the things that we have in common..

I took a time out from this forum because no matter what opinion was had…name calling etc etc got out of hand…

I stepped back because enough is enough…and I will say it again…Any one that really knows me knows what I am about…and yes I am about finding the balance…no questions asked…What I can not handle is the attacking of each other as that gets nowhere… I am also not into presumptions …not into racism or anything like that. I do not pretend to be Hawaiian or anything else..I am me and only me……

And yes I have a stake in all of this because my children are Hawaiian with their roots deep into this aina and yes I am looking out for their future…nothing more…I want them to know their culture, their history, their language, and most important who they are….Hawaiian yes…but lets throw in all the other mixes too and yes I want them to know all of themselves and be who they are and nothing less…

i feel for people who don’t have peace in their hearts and love for other human beings no matter what their skin color. not only is this the commandment of our Lord and Savior, but for our own body’s immune systems. but i can understand what drives people to hate: it is FEAR! fear is the opposite of faith. some fears are founded, and the issues at hand must be dealt with. the realistic fear of some day being overrun with commercial tourism and development needs to be dealt with in an intelligent and assertive way. although emotions rightfully drive our efforts to protect what we got, being pono and civilized, yet assertive, is essential to meet our goals. usually my gut feelings rule my thinking: when the first huge cruise ship wanted to come here, something wasn’t right. this would have been total overload. but this time it is different in all imaginable ways.
my prayer is that about 2 weeks from now all will agree. PEACE and a BLESSED CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all and your families. Give them a hug for me, because i am all alone and newly widowed.

  6. kalaniua ritte says:

sorry didnt know u were hawaiian..wish people would use there real names so iwouldnt makes that mistake.*

  7. kalaniua ritte says:

yes but they selling them to other natives..also i not the one preaching justice..ill pay by asking the goverment for subsidies just like the banks and all the other rich guys.if tou rich its subsidies if you poor welfare…. go figure

  8. Molokaiwahine says:

Hate Racism Anger—— No one will listen too…..
We are mixed bag of hawaiian, caucasian, japanese, chinese, korean. flipino, samoan, tongan, african american……………and more who live on this island
Merry Christmas to Jesus who died for our sins…

  9. kd808 says:

i know my history. so sad for you, too much hate and anger you obviously live a bitter life. ttfn

  10. kd808 says:

you bitter person with a wicked tongue. im sure you are or have been on state assistance or im sure you have family that are. so watch your words fool.

  11. mokeman says:

I THINK MY OKOLE IS HOALE,,BUT THE REST IS HAWAIIAN,,,IF I WAS TO RUN NAKED DOWN THE STREET AT NITE,,ALL U GOING SEE IS 2 BIG BUNS,,LOOK LIKE A PAIR OF 200 POUND MARSH MELLOWS FLOATING DOWN THE ROAD…..

  12. kd808 says:

STOLEN LANDS??.. our hawaiian people selling their hawaiian homeland leases with the help of a white mans realtor business. hows that?? check out past issues in the molokai dispatch classified ads. and u got no money to pay anyones bills where u goin getum from the state/government? oh and i suppose your alter is CLEAN!!! LMFAO…

  13. Molokai PuleO'O says:

You know what the land was STOLEN if you knew your HISTORY and not the history of the MOLOKAI DISPATCH you would know. EDUCATE yourself…White man came and INTOXICATED the hawaiian men and made then sign their lands over… You know what still get PILAU people like that too!! Look around MAKA’ALA don’t be DUMB.. If you had half a brain you would understand. Moloka’i was doing fine before all this crap took place, do you see anyone living on the beach?? or on the side of the highway? An Murders lately?? Then WTF do you want to see that type of stuff here on Moloka’i? You need to take these type of stuff into consideration.. With more numbers, come more crime and drug use..I know how you feel about the AHA KIOLE, but I feel that they are the BEST thing that happened to Moloka’i and Hawaii. I wouldn’t want any HAOLE, JAPANESE, CHINESE or any other race speaking for me. That for SURE no one that doesn’t understand the people of Hawaii or the History that took place here…

IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE “YESTERYEARS” THAN YOU CANNOT MAKE THE CONNECTION NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND WHY WE DO THINGS TODAY TO BETTER TOMORROW!!

  14. Molokai PuleO'O says:

The AHA KIOLE is there to preserve and protect the natural resources that exist and help speak for the people of Moloka’i by HEARING them, first by VOTING?? and holding COMMUNITY meetings. We nee some type of order here on the island.. From what I understand the AHA KIOLE exist on all islands not only Moloka’i. It’s good for the people, better than being spoken for, by people that don’t even know the island or make destructive assumptions that can change our island forever…

We all should have the right to voice how we feel about potential change and development, and have it heard!!

  15. Molokai PuleO'O says:

Not little world!!! ON OUR LITTLE ISLAND!!!

I am transmitting herewith SB23 SDI HD2 CD1, without my approval, and with the
statement of objections relating to the measure.
SB23 SDI HD2 CD1 RELATING TO NATIVE HAWAIIANS
    NEIL A!s RCROMBIE
    Governor, State of Hawaii
    EXECUTIVE CHAMBERS
    HONOLULU
    July 12, 2011
STATEMENT OF OBJECTIONS TO SENATE BILL NO. 23
    Honorable Members
    Twenty-Sixth Legislature
    State of Hawaii
Pursuant to Section 16 of Article I11 of the
Constitution of the State of Hawaii, I am returning herewith,
without my approval, Senate Bill No. 23, entitled “A Bill for an
    Act Relating to Native Hawaiians.”
The purpose of this bill is to establish within the
Department of Land and Natural Resources, the aha kiole advisory
council, which may advise the Office of the Chairperson of the
Board of Land and Natural Resources and the Legislature on issues
relating to land and natural resources management through the
‘aha moku system. The bill requires the ‘aha kiole advisory
council to submit an annual report to the Office of the
Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources and the
Legislature at least twenty days prior to the convening of each
regular session listing all recommendations made by the ‘aha
kiole advisory council and the resulting action taken by the
Department of Land and Natural Resources over the course of the
year. This bill also appropriates funds for an executive
    director.
While the goals of this bill are laudable, several
difficulties need to be addressed. First, the council is selfselected,
not confirmed, has no defined term limits, offers no
guidelines concerning the role of its members, and will select
its own executive director. In addition, there is no recourse
for inappropriate conduct by its members or the ability to remove
for cause. The resulting council would essentially be a private
entity funded by taxpayers with no governmental oversight.
Second, the intent in creating the council is similar to the
    STATEMENT OF OBJECTIONS
    SENATE BILL NO. 23
    Page 2
purpose for which the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (lrOHAll) was
created and is a natural evolution of what a new Native Hawaiian
governing entity would seek to accomplish. If there is
determination to not wait until this entity is formed, then the
council should at least be placed within OHA and funded by OHA.
Third, the bill only provides funding for an executive director.
This assumes that all other costs associated with this
legislation, including travel and other expenses for the eight
council members, will be absorbed by the Department of Land and
Natural Resources. I support the intent of the legislation to
provide state government the knowledge of traditional Native
Hawaiian resource management practices and welcome the chance to
review a bill that addresses the previously mentioned concerns.
For the foregoing reasons, I am returning Senate Bill
    No. 23 without my approval.
    Neil Ambercombie
    Governor of Hawaii

Walter and his Hui doesn’t have power over anyone, all they have is facts that stop people in their tracks. If wasn’t for worriers that some will call this island would be a concrete jungle with bumper to bumper cars waiting inline to get to the beach. The whole point of putting the cruz ship on hold was simple, they just came bringing tourist here on the island, talked to few and yes we need economic growth although we need to regulate who, what, were, and when or else Molokai will be another Waikiki and NO MOLOKAI IS NOT GONNA EVER BE WAIKIKI. If we allow one ship to just come with no regulation many more will come and believe me they will come…look at Waikiki or even Lahaina, because no one was Maka’ala they allowed the business man to do exactly that SELL OUT HAWAII. My Grandmother always fought for Aloha Aina and loved everyone and I mean everyone she made sure we did the same but she also taught us Aloha Aina cause without her (Land and everything that she has to offer and him the great creator whom I choose to call GOD) you do not exist. So with much Aloha to all it is our kuleana to take care of the Aina for she will take care of you when everything else fails. I Aloha Molokai…WKL

  22. Molokaiwahine says:

Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover “”domestic,”" as opposed to international, terrorism. A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act “”dangerous to human life”" that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to: (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping. Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism.

  23. kd808 says:

keep it sweet and simple. get to the point in your own words.

  24. livaloha says:

Why does Walter and his hui have so much power when it comes to doing business on Molokai? There are a lot of people on Molokai that have real jobs and don’t have the luxury or time to protest every good thing that will inject some much needed economic stimulus. Please, I ask you again Walter, use your ability to motivate people and your powers of persuasion to HELP this wonderful place and her residents.

  25. mokeman says:

TO ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE AFFECTED BY THE STOPPAGE OF THE TOUR SHIP TO MOLOKAI,,,PLEASE FORWARD ALL YOUR BILLS TO PRINCE WALTAH AND HIS TRIBE,EVERYONE OF THEM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PLIGHT.IF THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO MAKE A LIVING,,THEN IT ONLY MAKES SENSE,THAT THEY ALL PROVIDE THAT LIVING FOR YOU,,,LETS SEE HOW LONG THEY STOP U FROM MAKE A LIVING???????? IF THEY ARE SO JUST??? THEN DO THE RIGHT THING,,PAY FOR EVERYONE AFFECTED BY THEIR DECISION TO INTERFERE WITH OTHER PEOPLES LIVELYHOOD…

ITS LIKE IF THEY CAME TO YOUR HOME AND KILLED YOUR FIGTHING CHICKEN,,BY LOCAL SENSE,,THEY MUST APOLOGIZE AND REPLACE THAT CHICKEN,,,WELL,BOYS,,, ??? YOU COSTING PEOPLE THEIR LIVELYHOOD,,STEP UP AND BE THAT HAWAIIAN MAN,,YOU ALL CLAIM TO BE…

  26. kd808 says:

THANK YOU MOKEMAN FOR YOUR COMMENT. THAT IS SO TRUE AND IN THE RIGHT. WALTER RITTE AND HIS GANG BANG HAS AFFECTED MOLOKAI IN MANY WAYS, MOST IN THE NEGATIVE IMPACT. WHAT I DONT GET IS WHY THE HECK IS PERMISSION NEEDED BY WALTER B4 ANYONE COMES TO MOLOKAI TO TOUR,VACATION,VISIT? I DONT THINK KING KAMEHAMEHA LEFT HIS THRONE AND TITLE TO WALTER.

  27. kalaniua ritte says:

cuz i’ll pay the bills….as soon as all the non natives living in hawaii pay the natives for THE STOLEN LANDS they live now.step up and be that haole man you claim to be.if you mokeman are so just?dont preach justice when your alter is dirty.

  28. pahula68 says:

The beauty of Molokai was created by God. It remains so because of those who fought the battles against the greedy foreign and domestic corporations who felt they had the right to the “spoils” of a conquered people and “enough” was never enough. Before we let anyone holding dollars in their hand through our door, let them take of their shoes, sit on the floor with us, and share their stories of family. Look around, you Molokaiians, what do you see? Let the Aha Kiole do their kuleana and teach the “yacht” guys the protocol (permission) for entering our home.

  29. kd808 says:

oh please!!..we live in the today life not yesteryears. and since when has anyone had to ask the AHA KIOLE permission. who are they to grant permission? they dont ask this of the visitors coming off the plane or the molokai ferry. whats the difference? you probably benefit from the state/government and daily use of modern times. get it straight.

  30. kd808 says:

mine too.sorry 4 my snide remark, however i believe we need some kind of positive growth that will provide an increase in income for many of our struggling families. thats all. molokai has the power to allow growth with special conditions if need to be yet molokai can do this with humbleness and not hostility.

  31. kalaniua ritte says:

yes going back and forth on blogs wont help anyone.for those who dont know, meetings will be held so molokai not walter can make rules to regulate these ships on our island.the last community input meeting will be on jan 17.the boat has agreed to wait until after jan 17 to finish its season.so people can make cash an we can make rules to protect molokai.
